New Star Trek Fan Film Guidelines Alter Name

According to CBS and Paramount, the fan film, but not the fiction stories, cannot outright be called Star Trek.

Our solution is to call the fan parody 'Starship Chimera' with the disclaimer that it is a Star Trek parody and not official.

Nonetheless, the site will still do business, unpaid, non profit, as a Star Trek fan site, and will still be tagged as startrekchimera.

Star Trek Chimera Fan Series in Hiatus Again June to Possibly August 2016

The hot summer months are upon the crew of Star Trek Chimera, even though literally 25 pages remain in the script, the last planet scene is but one night of filming away, and then it's on to nights of filming on the two major bridge sets, the Q continuum set, and the final night on the DS9 room closing set, and a brief bridge scene at the end.

Typically a night of shooting takes up one page or two.

It will take a month of night shots to do it.

July 22 is not practical now. It looks like they will kick it until late August, so it might as well be September 8, 2016.

Principle filming will likely wrap by July 29, but it will not be finished, as second unit space effects will have to be finished, of which half of those have been finished.

The fan film contrvercies started last March with something called Axanar being sued, has worried other fan films, and CBS has closed down Horizon, and Continues has quit.

Errant fans were annoyed about Axanar and went to their web site claiming they had a problem with Axanar, but Chimera had nothing what so ever to do with Axanar.

Chimera is related to Excalibur, not Axanar. Chimera has never been related in any way to Axanar.

Chimera isn't even done yet, and has not received any cease and desist, because it has followed the unsung guidelines of fan films.

The story started out with no kick starter. The producers paid for the whole thing over the course of years, out of their own pockets.

They did not hire any voice actors, and the one they did have offered to do his two speeches free of charge before they even filmed. He got a small Christmas gift as compensation in 2006.

The story had been based on a non profit fan role playing series from the mid 2000s.

It has taken so long because of time issues and that the director and producer wanted to provide half the voices, and be director on it.

The movie began production in 2010 but had to start all over again in 2012.

In 2016 they've gone through two cameras, as one was defective to begin with.

Chimera is not related to Continues or Phase 2.

Chimera is not related to Renegades but donated to their kick starter a small amount.
