It seems almost a done issue an an anticlimax, but this past weekend, Kal Kat and Marx Cards did complete Starship Locations' first animated feature film, Starship Chimera, although Cards has to do some line reading in post.
Kat announced the drop of the official teaser at silicon Valley's annual Comic Con. Where else would that be? That's just in 11 days.
Full trailer will drop Sept. 8, on the 43rd anniversary of Star Trek, of which this is a parody.
Film is expected to drop to YouTube an the like, for free, no ad sense, on Christmas 2019, the same weekend as another big name series film.
Allegedly it is as long as a Marvel movie, so must be separated into acts.
Over the past 13 years, many Trek alumni had pledged their support for these films and had long since forgotten about it. They will be listed in the credits of the film.
This is not the new Picard show or Lower Decks, but references seem to be there. Interesting.
You have all seen the early trailers and teasers. These will be new.
Teaser, August 16
Trailer, September 9.
Feature, December 25.

Starship Locations Chimera fan film tentative for fall 2019
Buzz has it that Kat and Cards have resumed production at last on Chimera and will complete it during the summer months, in time for a fall 2019 release, and the latest, it would be December.
The novelizations of Starship Locations, heavily edited to change all the Star Trek names, but not the stories, will also be out and available.
The valentine to the fans will be the Starship Locations online MUSH. Maybe.

Optimistic return to form as production resumes 2019
Kat and Cards will indeed finish Chimera in 2019. Now three years past the deadline to make it a 40th anniversary story, and 2 years last doing a TNG 30th anniversary story, and right about a year after the 25th of DS0, the story continues.
Should they just not plan it with an anniversary?
Well in 2019, it is the 30th anniversary of On Location II, the self journal never officially released.
Does that even count?
Can they give us a real teaser trailer by February?
If nothing else, one by Comic Con in April? It should be by then there is a release date, and it should be set in.
Summer blockbuster movies will not interfere, nor would winter movies. It's free and on YouTube, so there is no need to be concerned with the release of Marvel movies or Star Wars 9. Because it's free, the release date is flexible.
Kat is biding his time with parodies in other genres and plans a full on miniseries for Trans Tech in 2019. It will start then.
Chimera has been in development perdition really since late 2016.

Well it has been another six months
That 25 minutes of footage has haunted us for 2 years. We still have not completed it. Maybe the Valentine to the fans will finally be, in 2019, the first official trailer of Starship Chimera.

Production Resumes Jan 2018
B roll production resumed after yet another hiatus of 6 months. This time it was not the copyright issue from 2016, but rather that Marx Cards as producer director was not available.
The planet balls from 2017 had to be touched up after a hot summer chipped some of the paint off of them. They're made from toy rubber balls painted with acrylics.
The donation of a realistic Deep Space Nine Runabout model from former TV actor Brian Storey, in August 2017, was not assembled until yesterday and today.
The ship will be featured as the 'Shuttle that takes Riker back to the Titan A' in the script. So it would not be in the DS9 scene but at Earth.
Originally it was an unnamed shuttle, but they have named it the Jacques in honor of the former Storey house street name, and it looks fantastic. It had to be assembled and then painted, and to look weathered and over 20 years old.
The release of the film is moved up once again, to mid Summer 2018.
Twenty five minutes of acting footage remains, and all of the B roll planet effects and second part ship effects. Estimates of time for completion of those will rest on if they can complete also the dialog.
